Gift Ideas

Christmas is right around the corner. I did a little shopping online this weekend. No Black Friday for me! My idea of shopping is me in my pajamas curled up on the sofa, with my laptop.

If there are any ladies on your list that have you stumped here are a few ideas:

This cute little bird hook is perfect for keys, for aprons in the kitchen or for hanging your robe in the bathroom.

This set of bookends feature an adorable pair of birds- perfect for the reader on your list!

This gorgeous perfume bottle, from Anthropologie, has a pincushion top and comes with these adorable Victorian pins! Perfect for the glamor girl on your list.

And for the foodie on your list, you can’t beat this Better Home and Garden cookbook! There are over 1200 easy recipes. It’s a classic for a reason.

This next item is on my wish list. I LOVE Norah Jones! This is her new CD that features duets with a lot of different artists. I can’t wait to hear it!

And last, but not least is this wonderful Stila eyeshadow kit with 37 colors! It’s available at Sephora. Stila brand eyeshadow are great, they are very high quality and glide on. Beware of the cheapie sets because some of them have very chalky shadows!

Have fun shopping! I’ll be back soon with photos of my Christmas mantles!

What I’m Reading:Susan Branch

Don’t you just love Susan Branch? I ordered her Autumn book and I am enjoying it so much. It is filled with her wonderful art, handwritten recipes and sweet quotes and sayings.

There is a great article about Susan on the Country Living website. There are photos of her entertaining at her home in Martha’s Vineyard.

This is a photo of Susan working on one of her first books.

You can also visit her website. She sells some of  her books and calendars there and there is also an archive of old newsletters that I really enjoyed reading.  I hope you get a chance to visit. She really has a unique talent and you will find she is very inspiring.

I’ll be joining Seasonal Saturday today, so be sure to drop by and see all the inspiring ideas!

Remembering Tasha Tudor and Announcing the Giveaway Winner

First for the winner of the giveaway! Congratulations to Barb at Corgi to Quilt by! She is the winner of the beautiful necklace. Please contact me with your info Barb!

If you are a reader of Victoria magazine you are probably familiar with the name Tasha Tudor. She was a beloved children’s book author and illustrator, with over 100 books. She lived a 1830′s style lifestyle, engaging in tasks such as spinning and weaving, cooking on a wood burning stove all the while using antique utensils. I thought I would share two of my favorite books about her:  Tasha Tudor’s Cookbook and Tasha Tudor’s Garden.

The Tasha Tudor Cookbook is a very beautiful book. It is filled with Tasha’s delicate and whimsical illustrations and over 80 recipes that she had gathered over her lifetime.

This cookbook also makes a wonderful gift. It is really a treasure.

I also love Tasha Tudor’s Garden. This book has the most amazing photos of Tasha’s extensive gardens. There is a lot of information about her lifestyle that is very interesting.
